FIRST SIGHT

To be honest, it's an especially pleasant Sunday afternoon. After raining like a waterfall for the last two days, the rain has stopped. The city was bathed in a warm glow as the sun broke through the clouds, beckoning everyone outside to take in the warm air. The gleaming remnants of the rain have covered the streets, providing a sparkling trail that attracts college friends who may frequent the area.

Sitting in a comfortable area of the open cafe is Nishi Deshmukh, a girl dressed in black trousers and an off-white Kurti with an elaborate design. No makeup because she prefers to look natural without any artificial additions. Simple gold earrings, a wristwatch that she continually checks to see what time it is, and her hair half-done in a clutch complete her look. Awaiting someone's arrival with patience. Or, more specifically, the boy her parents want her to meet in order to form a marital arrangement.

This arrangement wasn't anything she was forced into. She firmly responds that there is no one she loves because that is the situation, whenever the family brings up her marriage and asks her if she has any romantic interests. It's not that any males didn't express interest in her, she is a highly popular and attractive actress with millions of followers, despite her dark appearance and have numerous attracters. However, because of her expectations form her future, she was not interested in those observers. Because she felt that love should be real and not just a social duty, she was reluctant to enter into partnerships that seemed forced or shallow. And the cause of these ideas is the past, which she keeps from her family—not completely—they know a little bit about it but not the whole story.

She has an extremely high capacity for overthinking and is a very reserved individual. When she was experiencing her strongest feelings, she preferred to remain silent because she is an introverted girl. Her only friends—or rather, her seniors, whom she trusts more than herself and who have been at her side since she was just eighteen—are among the few people who are aware of her past.

The boy supposed to be here at one o clock. And it's only 12.15 at the moment. In order to prevent being late, she has a tendency to arrive early. Thinking about the many potential outcomes of this encounter, she waited for him patiently. Her phone rang at 12:30. She looked at the caller ID and saw the name "Aditya Devnagar," who would be her future husband if all goes according to plan.

"Hello," Nishi said as she answered the call.

On the other hand, a man was standing leaning against a car, talking on the phone. His heart was beating uncontrollably and unexpectedly. He didn't understand the reason for it. He only felt an unbreakable connection with the person on the other end of the phone, whom he had never met and about whom he knew nothing, except for the name 'Nishi', and this was the only reason he had come here to meet this stranger.

"Hello, good afternoon. I've arrived at the location standing in front of the collage and would like to know how long it will take you to get here." - He said with a pounding heart.

"Oh, you don't need to wait; in fact, I got there early. I'm seated at table number 10 in the cafe across from the campus." - A soothing voice comes from the other end of the phone, which brings him relief.

"Accha, ok, give me two minutes; I will be there." -Aditya ends the call after saying this.

Nishi's perspective:

As soon as he cut the call my focus shifted to my pounding heart as I hung up. What's making it race so loudly? It isn't even like I'm seeing my long-lost boyfriend after a few years, and it is just supposed to be our first encounter. Like the pre-production meetings I went to for my projects, this one is informal. So why in the world am I acting so anxious?

"Calm down, Nishi; he won't eat you. You only need to have a casual conversation with him. There is nothing to worry about, everything is OK, All is Well!!!!."

"Nishi?" - The same gruff voice that I have been hearing on phone interrupts my thoughts.

"Yes," - I said quite courteously as I rose from my chair. However, when I saw the guy in front of me, I was momentarily astonished.

Standing front of me is very handsome men. I don't mean to cause trouble, but he's a really attractive dude. His dark eyes were softly staring at me. For a second a notice a shock in his eyes which vanished immediately. Did I misinterpret his reaction?

Olive green pants with a white shirt tucked in neatly. His fair skin had a beard that was just barely visible. All in all, the ideal fusion of excellence.

"Hello. Aditya Devnagar.” His voice interrupted my secret observation.

"Yes. Hi, it's a pleasure to meet you. Please have a seat." - I answered, returning to reality after hearing his voice.

"It is pleasant meeting you too," he replied as he sat down across from her.

" So sorry! I don't mean to keep you waiting. I was actually got late because I had an emergency at the hospital." - Aditya remarked courteously while having sip of water available on the table.

"No, no, you don't need to apologize. It's actually not your fault because I got here considerably earlier than expected." - I answered, smiling nervously.

"Is it your habit to arrive early, or is today a very special occasion?" -Aditya asked me while wearing a sly smile.

"Both, to be precise. I usually get to places early to avoid being late and being labeled as latecomer. And yes, as you said, I arrived early today as well because I was sitting at home thinking a lot and wanted to get some fresh air before we met. This place is my alma mater and where i find myself relaxing." - With a pounding heart, I answered.

"I'm happy to hear that you have been eagerly considering our meeting. Don't be anxious, though. Since arranged marriage is so exaggerated in our time, let's assume that it is a friendly get-together. Let's have a normal conversation and set marriage aside for the time being." - He gave me a comforting response, which eased my anxiety.

"Let's order something first."- As I looked at the menu, I said.

He conveyed the order to the waitress. He got the paav bhaji for himself, and I merely ordered the sadha dosa because although it was almost time for lunch and I wasn't in the mood for a decent meal at the moment.

His gaze returned to me as he said, - "Tell me about yourself, something of course, which is not shown on the internet."

"So, Mr. Devnagar stalked me on the internet?" - A mischievous smile came to my face as I asked.

"I won't say I stalked you because, to be very genuine, I didn't ever know whom I was going to meet, just your first name Nishi, until I saw you here. But who doesnt know 'The Nishi Deshmukh'. "

"You are joking right?"
